It is situated approximately 176 kilometers from Phuket, 86 kilometers from Phang Nga and 814 kilometers from Bangkok. The 4,708 square kilometers is divided into 8 administrative districts: Amphie Muang (Krabi Town), Khao Panom, Khlong Thom, Plai Phraya, Ko Lanta, Ao Luk, Lam Thap & Nhua Khlong.

Additionally, the Maenam Krabi River flows for 5 kilometers, through Krabi City and out into the Andaman Sea.
