Ko Phi Phi Travel Information

Ko Phi Phi (หมู่เกาะพีพี) is a small archipelago located in the Krabi Province. It is around 48km south-east from Phuket, 42km south from Krabi Town and 40km from Ao Nang Beach. Ko Phi Phi is accessible by boat, which leaves Phuket and Krabi Town on a daily basis. The Phi Phi Islands are famed for their spectacular cliffs rising vertically from the seabed. The beaches are clean and the waters are clean and tranquil. The named islands making up Ko Phi Phi are;

  • Ko Phi Phi Don
    Like the other islands in the group, Ko Phi Phi Don is a non-volcanic island largely made of limestone. It is the largest of the islands and also the only populated island. It is approximately a 90 minute boat trip from Phuket. As with the other islands in this group, Phi Phi Don is a non-volcanic island.

    Ko Phi Phi Don, would be separated into 2 islands if it were not for the strip of flat land that connects them together. On this aforementioned strip of land you will find the largest town on the island - as well as most of the resorts. Ko Phi Phi Don is very popular for diving and snorkeling activities. This is a stunning island complete with limestone cliffs, vegetation, spectacular view points and clear waters.

  • Ko Phi Phi Leh
    Also known as Ko Phi Phi Lai, this is a smaller island to the south. This was also the backdrop for parts of the Hollywood movie, "The Beach" which was filmed on location in Maya Beach. As of this famous connection, it is understandably a popular tourist destination.

  • Koh Phai
    Also known as 'Bamboo Island'. This is a small low-lying island located to the north of Phi Phi Don. It lays close to Ko Yung. It is noted for having several excellent beaches on it's north and eastern sides. You will also find a beautiful coral garden spreading to the south of Koh Phai.

  • Bida Nok and Bida Nai
    Located to the south of Phi Phi Leh, you will see two small adjacent limestone formations rising from the sea. The western side of each island drops vertically - up to 30m in places - into the sandy base. The western walls, of both islands, are covered in beautiful corals and sea fans.

    This area is particularly famous for being the best scuba diving sites in Phi Phi. This is due to the conditions being perfect for deep dives. This is an ideal area for divers of all abilities from beginners to skilled professionals. Be amazed by the small coral garden which lays in between the two islands.
